I am Haoye Chen, a doctoral student in the subject of transport systems at KTH Royal Institute of Technology starting in 2022. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from Beijing Jiaotong University and my master’s degree from KTH. My research topics involve Autonomous Mobility on Demand (AMoD) systems, sharing mobility, multimodal transport systems, optimization, etc.
PhD Project: Multimodal Autonomous Mobility Systems
In the Mobility on Demand (MoD) system, a fleet of vehicles services on-demand transportation requests in an urban area. The recent advances in autonomous vehicles make centralized control possible in MoD systems, which theoretically improves the efficiency of MoD systems by fleet-wide coordination in the aspects of assignments, routes, scheduling, rebalancing, etc. At the same time, AMoD systems can also combine features of electric vehicles, ride-sharing, power networks, and consolidation with other transport modes. These features, together with complex coordination, bring challenges to the development of the AMoD system. The doctoral project mainly discovers the aforementioned features in the AMoD system by building mathematical models and applying optimization algorithms to them
